About the Role

We are recruiting for an Application Developer to join a growing internal IT and development team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career developer with a solid foundation in software development who wants to continue building technical skills in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

The position will focus primarily on maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing existing business applications rather than exclusively developing new applications from the ground up. The Application Developer will work alongside experienced technical professionals while learning the organization’s existing applications, development environment, and business processes.

Candidates do not need extensive professional development experience to be considered. Relevant experience may come from professional work, internships, academic coursework, or substantial development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance existing software applications.

  • Modify and improve application functionality based on evolving business requirements.

  • Support modernization efforts involving existing applications, technologies, and development practices.

  • Build application features and interactive software solutions using Microsoft development technologies.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects, application issues, and performance problems.

  • Research new functionality, technologies, and development approaches that could improve existing systems.

  • Assist with keeping applications current from both technology and security perspectives.

  • Work within existing codebases and gradually assume greater ownership of supported applications.

  • Collaborate with developers, infrastructure professionals, and other members of the internal IT team.

  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to understand application needs and resolve technical issues.

  • Participate in an occasional rotating after-hours support schedule.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree or relevant coursework in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Software Development, Information Technology, Analytics, or a related technical discipline preferred.

  • Recent graduates with relevant technical coursework, internships, or substantial development projects are encouraged to apply.

Experience

  • Professional software development experience is beneficial but not required.

  • Internship, academic, project-based, or professional experience involving application development may be considered.

  • Experience working with, maintaining, troubleshooting, or modifying existing software applications is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Foundational knowledge of software development concepts, practices, and methodologies.

  • Exposure to C# and .NET through professional experience, internships, coursework, or development projects.

  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio.

  • Understanding of application development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and debugging.

  • Ability to read, understand, and modify an existing codebase.

  • General understanding of software testing and application problem resolution.

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically.

  • Interest and ability to learn additional technologies, applications, and development methodologies.

Certifications

  • No specific certifications are required.

  • Relevant Microsoft or software development certifications are a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn.

  • Coachability and adaptability.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Collaborative approach to working within a small IT and development team.

  • Ability to work with internal stakeholders to understand business and application needs.

  • Desire to grow into greater technical responsibility over time.

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to begin or continue developing a career in application development within an established internal IT environment.

  • Gain hands-on experience working with real-world business applications and existing production codebases.

  • Work alongside experienced technical professionals who can provide mentorship and support.

  • Exposure to broader IT technologies and business systems beyond application development.

  • Opportunity to gradually take on greater application ownership and technical responsibility.

  • Primarily on-site environment with employees generally working in the office four days per week and flexibility for one remote day per week based on team and business needs.

  • Competitive salary and long-term direct-hire opportunity with professional growth potential.
