Job Title: Factory Acceptance Testing Technician
Location: Syracuse, NY
Job Type: Full-time, direct hire
Salary Range: $20.00–$31.50 per hour, depending on experience

About the Role:
A manufacturing organization is seeking a Factory Acceptance Testing Technician to support final testing, inspection, and customer acceptance of finished equipment prior to shipment. This position works closely with Quality, Production, and Engineering teams to ensure completed products meet customer requirements, internal standards, drawings, and applicable testing protocols.

The Factory Acceptance Testing Technician will prepare equipment for testing, perform pre-test inspections, support customer-facing acceptance testing, document issues, and assist with final readiness prior to shipment. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and comfort interacting professionally with customers during the testing and acceptance process.

Work hours may vary based on production schedules, customer testing timelines, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare parts, components, and finished equipment for factory acceptance testing.

• Perform pre-test inspections and assist with final assembly prior to customer arrival.

• Support customers during the factory acceptance testing process and provide a professional, helpful experience.

• Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to complete testing requirements.

• Coordinate and execute testing according to established protocols, internal procedures, customer specifications, and applicable codes or standards.

• Perform drawing verification, surface finish checks, mechanical testing of equipment accessories, and water or spray-device testing using calibrated equipment.

• Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns, testing issues, or completion risks to appropriate leadership.

• Assist with resolving punch-list items prior to final shipment preparation.

• Support shipping readiness, testing-area organization, and material movement as needed.

• Cross-train in related areas to provide coverage during absences or changing production needs.

• Follow all company safety policies, quality procedures, and applicable occupational health and safety requirements.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Technical training in manufacturing, mechanical assembly, quality, fabrication, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

• Experience using basic hand tools in an assembly, mechanical, manufacturing, or testing environment.

• Prior experience in quality inspection, equipment testing, final assembly, mechanical assembly, fabrication, or manufacturing support is preferred.

• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment is preferred.

Technical Skills:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and assembly documentation.

• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with large equipment, components, and assemblies.

• Ability to perform drawing verification, surface finish checks, mechanical testing, and water or spray-device testing using calibrated equipment.

• Experience using an ERP system in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

• Electrical experience, including exposure to wiring high- and low-voltage components, is preferred.

Certifications:

• Willingness to obtain and maintain a powered industrial vehicle permit.

• OSHA or other safety-related training is a plus.

Soft Skills:

• Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with customers.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Good organizational skills and the ability to manage changing priorities.

• Ability to work effectively with Quality, Production, Engineering, and leadership teams.

• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.

• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and maneuver up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and platforms.

• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, balance, stoop, twist, and work inside, around, or underneath large equipment or vessels as needed.

• Ability to follow chemical safety requirements and use proper PPE when required.

• Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
