Job Title: Network & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Levels I–IV)
Location: Hybrid or On-site, Northeast United States
Job Type: Full-time, contract
Salary Range: hourly, depending on experience

About the Role:
We are seeking a Network & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to define and deliver the vision, strategy, and technical solutions for enterprise network and cloud infrastructure platforms across hybrid environments. This role is responsible for designing scalable, secure, and flexible architectures that support modern cloud-based services as well as legacy system integration. The position works closely with internal IT teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and subject matter experts to evaluate, implement, and optimize infrastructure solutions across public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises environments. The role emphasizes resiliency, security, automation, and cost efficiency throughout the infrastructure lifecycle. This is a multi-level position, with level placement based on experience, technical expertise, and demonstrated capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an escalation point for complex infrastructure and network issues
  • Conduct proof-of-concept testing and technical evaluations in lab environments
  • Design and document infrastructure solutions for production deployment
  • Develop and maintain technical standards, architecture documentation, and operational procedures
  • Deploy and integrate new technologies into enterprise environments
  • Align infrastructure solutions with business needs and strategic objectives
  • Research, evaluate, and implement hybrid cloud technologies
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Work with vendors and subject matter experts to establish technical standards and best practices
  • Integrate multiple systems and platforms across cloud and on-premises environments
  • Maintain a strong focus on security, compliance, audit readiness, and data protection
  • Support enterprise server, network, and infrastructure strategy
  • Contribute to infrastructure performance optimization and operational improvement
  • Support budgeting, cost planning, and cost optimization initiatives for assigned technology areas
  • Participate in enterprise strategy development and infrastructure roadmap planning
  • Assist with vendor evaluations and RFI/RFP processes
  • Lead automation initiatives and workflow improvements
  • Perform system analysis, resiliency planning, and capacity planning
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across teams
  • Develop business cases and technical justifications for infrastructure investments
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for assigned technology domains
  • Lead critical infrastructure projects and strategic initiatives

Qualifications:

Education

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or 7+ years of equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred for higher-level placements

Experience

  • Experience in infrastructure operations, engineering, and project delivery within enterprise environments
  • Experience designing and supporting hybrid infrastructure solutions across public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises platforms
  • Experience integrating systems across legacy and modern infrastructure environments
  • Experience supporting infrastructure resiliency, disaster recovery, and operational continuity
  • Experience working with cross-functional IT teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and external partners
  • Level I: Foundational experience in infrastructure operations and project delivery
  • Level II: Strong experience in infrastructure operations and service delivery, including resource management and optimization
  • Level III: Advanced experience mentoring team members, aligning technical solutions to business goals, and supporting resiliency planning
  • Level IV: Demonstrated leadership in technical delivery, strategic initiatives, and enterprise hybrid cloud architecture

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of cloud computing concepts and hybrid infrastructure environments
  • Experience with scripting and automation for infrastructure deployment, management, and support
  • Working knowledge of security, compliance, audit, and data protection practices
  • Working knowledge of at least three of the following for Level I, at least four for Levels II and III, and at least five for Level IV:
  • Public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Networking technologies including routing, switching, SD-WAN, and wireless
  • Network security platforms including next-generation firewalls and access control systems
  • Load balancing technologies
  • Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
  • Configuration management tools such as Ansible
  • Virtualization and hyperconverged infrastructure platforms
  • Network simulation and emulation tools
  • APIs, scripting languages, and data formats including REST, JSON, and YAML
  • Version control platforms such as Git-based systems
  • Level II: Intermediate expertise in multiple infrastructure technologies, strong automation skills, and experience producing high-quality technical documentation
  • Level III: Advanced expertise in multiple infrastructure technologies, advanced understanding of disaster recovery and resiliency planning, and strong technical leadership capability
  • Level IV: Deep knowledge of hybrid cloud architectures and advanced expertise across enterprise infrastructure and networking domains

Certifications

  • Relevant industry certifications are preferred
  • Certifications in cloud, networking, security, or infrastructure technologies are strongly preferred for Level III and Level IV candidates
